On gear & scams...

Garage/lounge signups are live

šŸ§  Need to know this weekā€¦

  1. āš ļø Missed your chance to get on the NYC MOTO Garage & Lounge opening list? The sign-up sheet is still open.

  2. šŸ§© Not gonna lie. This Hayabusa wooden puzzle would keep me occupied for days.

  3. šŸ«¢ God damn the Desert X looks great.

  4. šŸ«  Euro5+ compliance takes another victim. So long, Yamahaā€™s R1.

  5. šŸ¤‘ F1 and MotoGP under one roof? Owners of F1 eyeing up an acquisition.

  6. šŸ¤© Is there anyone that doesnā€™t like looking at the Indian FTR? This RSD Super Hooligan edition takes it a notch further.

  7. šŸŖ– Hereā€™s a $17 AliExpress helmet for your $17 head. Donā€™t fucking buy this.

  8. šŸ Get your ass to the track. PJā€™s track days early bird specials are ending soon. Mention NYC MOTO and maybe PJ will slap you on the ass after tech checkin. Heā€™s got a nice slap.

Understatement of the year: not all gear is created equal

Case in point. You donā€™t know how hard it is for me to link to a Yammie Noob video. Iā€™m not a big fan. But his videos are hard to avoid and 17% of his videos have useful content about 40% of the time. This video in particular is gold.

In a nutshell: NBT and Winx are rip-offs off UglyBros and mostly suck, influencers be damned.

I truly appreciate the effort here.

Bottom line is do your research when buying gear. Know what matters in your gear. Look for things like a CE rating, the actual CE mark, the motorbike logo designation, EN standard, etc. Iā€™m far too lazy to actually do the research for you so hereā€™s Revā€™itā€™s breakdown.

Iā€™d love to tell you that you can stick to Brand Whatever for great gear and while some brands are ā€œbetterā€ than others, not all gear from that great brand is made to slide. My Dainese premium ā€œriding jeansā€ split down the crotch twice, even after being repaired by them the first time. Maybe Iā€™m just fat.

Iā€™m a big fan of my UglyBros and an even bigger fan of my SA1NT gear. Jeans, Jacket, and lifestyle shit is top notch. Use code NYCMOTO20 for 20% off. As youā€™re buying gear, check the ratings; donā€™t take my word for it!

This Husqy is perfect around the city and at just under $4.5k, a reasonable starter bike.

The NYC MOTO Garage & Lounge is happening

Iā€™ve shared this on Instagram and have had an insane response. Love you guys and itā€™s clear this is something the city needs.

Weā€™ll do two types of membership:

  1. Social with bike storage. This will likely be priced at around $300 /month. Iā€™ve got 15 commitments already so weā€™ve got around 60 spots left.

  2. Social membership. Iā€™ll probably roll this out a bit later this season and do this membership at around $50 /month. It will include access to the lounge facilities. Best work-from-home setup in the city.

Thanks to the massive response, Iā€™m happy to report that the project is happening and weā€™ve got a few spots left. Again, NYC MOTO Newsletter Premium Members will get shoved to the front of the line.

Hereā€™s the intro post on IG:

And hereā€™s another one with more info:

šŸ„‡ The NYC MOTO Riders Club

The Riders Club has been mostly flying under the radar but itā€™s time to open the cage.

Hereā€™s what being a member of The Riders Club means:

šŸŒŸ Youā€™re supporting the only newsletter for riders in NYC. I work hard as hell bringing you this content and hunt down brands, routes, gear, and stories I know youā€™ll love. Itā€™s a full time job and subscribers to the NYC MOTO Riders Club make it possible.

šŸ”— All of the Google Maps links from our ride guides. Simply click on the links and follow the same turn-by-turn directions I did. I include .GPX links as well.

šŸ›£ļø A new route every week. There is an email blast that goes out on Thursdays to only those that subscribe to the Riders Club. It features one new spectacular route every week.

šŸ¤‘ Exclusive discount codes to the šŸ”„ hottest gear. Some of the discounts are higher value than the free subscribers and youā€™ll also see some exclusive gear/brands entirely.

Give it a shot with a 7 day free trial:

Or if youā€™re the non-committal type, buy me a cup of ā˜•ļø coffee. Honestly though, Iā€™d probably just spend it on a pair of gloves.

šŸŒŸ Feature your product or service in the newsletter

NYC MOTO is the only motorcycle newsletter for the NYC/NJ/PA tri-state area. We carefully review sponsorship opportunities to make sure your product/service aligns with and adds value to our readers.
