The dangers of riding a motorcycle
plus: Ducati recalls, motorcycles in 2023, and the Motorcycle Diaries series
🧠 Need to know this week…
🤔 Here’s some info on the 2016-2023 Ducati XDiavel recall
🏍️ 🎆 The 2024 Isle of Manhattan Ride was fantastic
🫢 Surprise surprise. Electronic driver aids in cars still don’t see motorcycles well.
📱 The best damn phone mount there is. Now with an updated case for your iPhone 15 Pro Max
🧥 SA1NT is running a huge 30% off sale on their armored winter jacket. I use mine daily and love the damn thing.
⁉️ What happened in the world of motorcycles in 2023?
❤️🔥 Love the Motorcycle Diaries series. Here’s one on ethical travel.
The chances of dying on a bike is less than the risk of dying while base jumping 🪂
Factually true. Actual statistics.
Know what aren’t facts? Everyone’s interpretation of what is dangerous or not on a bike. Although ▶️ Fortnine tried to make it objective.
Everyone’s got their own Danger Meter 😱 . For some, it’s leaning a bike more than your kickstand. For others, it’s going 120mph+ on the FDR. Opinions on what’s dangerous and what isn’t is entirely based on your own opinions. Let’s repeat that. Danger on a motorcycle (or anything for that matter) is entirely dependent on your idea of acceptable risk. Let’s agree on a thing: yes, riding motorcycles is in general dangerous and risky. The level of danger past that is entirely subjective. |
Just keep that in mind when speaking your opinion in real life as well as Instagram comments. I’m not complaining. I just get a bit of a chuckle when I see comments like “you’re a menace” and “bro I can do those speeds on my Vespa” on the same video.
Check the comments on this video for a perfect example (side note: who the hell knows why this video popped off the way it did):
What do you consider dangerous? Sound off!
🥇 The NYC MOTO Riders Club
The Riders Club has been mostly flying under the radar but it’s time to open the cage.
Here’s what being a member of The Riders Club means:
🌟 You’re supporting the only newsletter for riders in NYC. I work hard as hell bringing you this content and hunt down brands, routes, gear, and stories I know you’ll love. It’s a full time job and subscribers to the NYC MOTO Riders Club make it possible.
🔗 All of the Google Maps links from our ride guides. Simply click on the links and follow the same turn-by-turn directions I did. I include .GPX links as well.
🛣️ A new route every week. There is an email blast that goes out on Thursdays to only those that subscribe to the Riders Club. It features one new spectacular route every week.
🤑 Exclusive discount codes to the 🔥 hottest gear. Some of the discounts are higher value than the free subscribers and you’ll also see some exclusive gear/brands entirely.
Give it a shot with a 7 day free trial:
Or if you’re the non-committal type, buy me a cup of ☕️ coffee. Honestly though, I’d probably just spend it on a pair of gloves.
🌟 Feature your product or service in the newsletter
NYC MOTO is the only motorcycle newsletter for the NYC/NJ/PA tri-state area. We carefully review sponsorship opportunities to make sure your product/service aligns with and adds value to our readers.
