Get on comms 📞

This isn’t a discussion on which one’s better. If your group rides with Sena, get a Sena. If they mostly ride Cardo, go Cardo. You may have your own preference but the benefits of being on comms with the rest of your group far outweigh whatever your comms brand preference is.

Don’t be this guy

I’ve personally been in a ton of situations where not having comms could have caused major issues and in other situations where being on comms avoided shitty outcomes:

Here’s a situation where I was on Kanawauke and came up to a truck on a blind corner. I was lucky that all that happened was a lost mirror but I was also worried about the riders behind me as well. They weren’t on comms so I couldn’t do anything to warn them. Luckily, the truck had already turned by the time they got there but it could have ended worse. You don’t have to be going fast for a situation like this to turn bad.

Here’s another situation from this past weekend. About 20 of us were out upstate (full route coming soon) and came upon a hairpin after a fast straight. The lead called out hairpin and we echoed that throughout comms in case other riders didn’t hear him or were out of range.

Moral of the story is get on comms. It’s not cheap (especially if you have to switch to another comms unit) but sooooo worth it. Just make sure you get a unit with Mesh capability. The top end units from Sena & Cardo both support Mesh.

A new upstate route is coming…

… but it’s not ready yet

This past weekend, I went up to Phoenicia with the group I ride with and had one of the best rides I’ve been on in a while. Thanks, Mark.

The route is coming so watch out for it on the NYCMOTO Insta & next newsletter.

In the meantime, check out the twisties around Bear Mountain:

Hit me up if you guys prefer one over the other and we can put together a ride out this Fall.
