Events 📆 on deck in NYC…

  1. It’s hell week. Also known as UN week. Avoid Midtown East at all costs. It’s Monday morning and already a nightmare out there.

  2. 🛞 🛞 Two Wheel Tuesday at 🏙️ Skyline is back next Tuesday, the 26th! Last year’s event was one for the books and I’m thrilled to see it back on the schedule. The event is free but you must pre-register.

  3. Pre-register for the October 15th Inaugural Hudson Valley Motorcycle Ride benefiting the Hudson Valley 🐶 😺 Animal Rescue & Sanctuary

  4. 💀 Wicked Wednesday Season Closer 🥹 😭 is next Wednesday

  5. Today is National 🍔 Cheeseburger Day. Wendy’s is selling jr bacon cheeses for 1 cent and McDonald’s is doing 50 cent double cheeseburgers (order through app). thanks for the tip, Albaro!

WTF is Basecamp Brooklyn? 🏕️ 🥙🍷

Aside from the most bad-ass overland Ford Edge I’ve ever seen, Basecamp Brooklyn is one of the most wonderful combinations of guided camping & culinary events I’ve seen.

If I were to be forced to pick my top 5 best times I’ve had with friends, it would always have a few things in common:

  1. Good food

  2. Good people

  3. Good setting

Basecamp Brooklyn has literally created all of the framework to recreate this moments and build long-lasting relationships. All of their curated events start out as strangers in the woods and some of the stories that are built and lives that are changed are truly touching.

Book an event, bring your bike, and enjoy some of the best outdoor cooking & camping you’ve ever had.

Why you ride and who you ride with 💗

We’ve all got our reasons to ride. Some of us do it to get away from shit. Some of us do it to think. Others do it for the thrill.

I never really defined a reason for myself. I don’t find myself emotional on a bike. In fact, I try not to think at all. I ride a Ducati Streetfighter and it requires a ton of mental fortitude to keep both wheels down and upright doing shit I probably shouldn’t be doing. Maybe for cruisers and adventure riders it’s different. Maybe you guys & girls look at riding a little different, and that’s OK.

When I first started riding, I was on my own and didn’t mind. Shortly after, I met this guy Sal (you know who you are) at Brooklyn Moto and he asked if I wanted to join Empire Ducati, a riding group around the city.

I joined up and it changed my life. One of the most difficult parts of being an adult is making new friends but I’ve gained a new family. These guys will be there for me no matter what and I will do the same for them.

Find yourself a group like that. It’s not for everyone but that’s what I thought too. Love you guys.

For those just breaking in to the riding scene in the city (or anywhere for that matter), check this newsletter for a guide.

👉️ Ride through the 🏙️ city they said…

Riding through Manhattan is how I learned to ride. MSF Advanced Rider Course has nothing on the slow speed maneuvers you’ll learn by riding through Park Ave & Union Square.

In terms of routes I take throughout the city, there are a few. Here’s one I like:

Who the hell knows what you’re going to encounter…

  • potholes

  • cabbies

  • uber drivers

  • bicyclists

  • zombies

  • tourists

  • open doors

  • road construction

My point is that the city’s got everything you could hope for in a slow speed riding class. Just keep in mind that there are no soft cones to run over as a worst case scenario. These are real cars, humans, pets, and more.

thanks to Karen Oh from our Facebook Group for the suggestion to create this route!

Like this route? Want me to do more routes like this in the city? Let me know!

⛰️ Check out some of these other routes I’ve put together

Hit me up if you guys prefer one over the other and we can put together a ride out this Fall.
